This half day tour of chocolate making starts from the cacao tree and ends with a Mayan chocolate bar in your hands. In the community of Maya Center you will visit a small cacao farm where the farmer gives you a complete history of his organic cacao farm and detailed explanation of how the beans are extracted from the pods and then fermented and finally dried and ready to be processed into chocolate.
The Chocolate Making Session
Immediately after the farm we head Back to the small-indoors chocolate facility, here you will be greeted by exotic aroma of a chocolate. During this hands on experience you will learn how to make your own chocolate on traditional grinding stones just like the ancient Mayans did. The Chocolate Making Sessions at a living Mayan Museum offers you the best of Real Mayan Culture and its authenticity. Experience the traditional Mayan way of making chocolate from bean to Bar.Even more exciting is that you get to eat your very own chocolate or shop around for chocolate products at the small Mayan store.
